When one thinks about music production, we just think of the fancy bells and whistles of it. A lot of times films portray people just turning nobs and vibing on headphones. Music production is so much more than that. When instruments and vocals are being recorded, a lot of the frequencies have to be equalized so that all of it can flow sonically and in unison (kind of like art on a canvas).
Also, there is the process of mixing and mastering a track. Mixing is the art of making sure that audio has the effects that it needs and is sound. Mastering is the art of making sure the volume is at the level that is preferable.
